Dunhuang to Jiayuguan and Zhangye

Dunhuang was the first trading town reached by foreign merchants entering Chinese-administered territory from the west. The city is the site of the renowned Mogao Caves, which were designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987.

Jiayuguan is an important fortress on the ancient Silk Road. Traveling west along the ancient Silk Road, visitors can find Jiayuguan at the foot of the Qilian Mountain in the vast Gobi Desert. Visitors can enjoy beautiful sunsets while standing atop the magnificent city tower.

Zhangye, formerly romanized as Changyeh or known as Kanchow, is a prefecture-level city in central Gansu Province in the People's Republic of China. It borders Inner Mongolia on the north and Qinghai on the south.
